LE DOMAINE DU MUY
JEAN GABRIEL MITTERRAND, FOUNDER
In 2014, Jean-Gabriel Mitterrand created the Domaine du Muy. The same year, his Parisian gallery specializing in sculpture, founded in 1988, was renamed Galerie Mitterrand and at the same address, a new space exclusively devoted to the presentation of works by contemporary living artists was opened. This transversal attachment to sculpture has also led Jean-Gabriel Mitterrand to organize numerous exhibitions of monumental works in public spaces, including the off-site exhibition of the Musée d'Art Moderne in Rio de Janeiro in 1999, to the World Expo 2010 in Shanghai, where he won an international competition to oversee the group exhibition of sculpture.
SIMON LAMUNIÈRE, EXHIBITION CURATOR
Since 2014, Simon Lamunière has been entrusted with the task of curating exhibitions at the Domaine du Muy. A task perfectly suited to Lamunière's expertise: for over ten years, he was the curator of Art Unlimited, the section devoted to monumental artworks at Art Basel. An expertise reinforced by his work on architecture and public space as part of the Neon Parallax Project; ten luminous neon signs created by artists, placed on ten buildings throughout Geneva. Simon Lamunière was the curator of documenta X web site in 1997, as well as for the Centre pour l'Image Contemporaine in Geneva from 1996 to 2003, where he co-founded the Biennale de L'image en mouvement. Between 2012 and 2015, he was the president of Artgenève.
EDWARD MITTERRAND, ARTISTIC DIRECTOR
In 2000, Edward Mitterrand co-founded with Stéphanie Cramer, the art consultancy agency Mitterrand + Cramer, dedicated to advising buyers and collectors of contemporary art. In 2001, in collaboration with two other galleryowners, he was a key figure in the founding of the Association du Quartier des Bains, of which he was president on several occasions, including as recently as 2014. Today, this Geneva-based association regroups some fifteen of so galleries and three institutions. Since 2014, in addition to his primary role as art consultant, Edward Mitterrand has acted as artistic director for several projects at the Domaine du Muy and the Galerie Mitterrand's new exhibitions space in Paris.
